120 Bahadur Review in English:
This is a film that beautifully portrays patriotism, sacrifice, duty, and human emotions. The film tells the story of 120 courageous soldiers who leave behind their families, dreams, and fears to stand guard at the border and fight against the enemy to protect their country. However, its main focus is not just on guns and bullets, but on the soldiers’ mindset, their dilemmas, and their unwavering dedication to the nation.
Story:
The film’s story centers on a regiment of 120 soldiers sent on an extremely difficult mission. The mission is not only dangerous but also strategically crucial. A neighboring country has planned an incursion across the border, and the safety of thousands of lives rests on the shoulders of these 120 soldiers. The commanding officer, Captain Arjun Singh, who plays the lead role, leads his team through treacherous terrain – dense forests, snow-capped mountain peaks, and hidden enemy strongholds.
It is in these circumstances that the main conflict of the story unfolds. The film depicts how these soldiers, despite limited resources, harsh weather conditions, and constant enemy attacks, push themselves to their limits to complete the mission, moving forward with courage and determination.
The emotional core of the story emerges when the soldiers are shown some of the last messages, letters, and mementos they received from their homes. This helps the audience understand that a soldier is not just a man in uniform, but also a son, a husband, a father, and a friend.
Direction:
The film’s greatest strength is its direction. The director hasn’t glamorized the war but has shown it very realistically. Notably, the camera often becomes Saini’s eyes in many scenes, making the viewer feel as if they are themselves on the battlefield and fighting. The story feels incredibly authentic. The background music also plays a significant role in maintaining the suspense and tension. Some scenes are deliberately left without music to clearly convey the silence and fear of war. This is a very effective creative decision.
Acting:
All the actors have portrayed their characters in a very realistic and natural way. A special mention goes to the character of Captain Arjun Singh, who is incredibly powerful. His portrayal is simply amazing. The pressure of the mission, his responsibility towards his comrades, and his love for the country are clearly visible on his face throughout the film. When these characters appear together on screen, the scenes automatically become much more impactful. It feels like the film truly comes alive.
Action and cinematography:
The film’s visuals are simply stunning. The camera has captured the mountainous terrain and snowy landscapes in a truly spectacular way. Some of the nighttime shots are so beautiful that it feels like a real battle is taking place. There’s absolutely no overdose of action or gratuitous violence. That is, there are no exaggerated explosions, no scenes of bushes being blown apart, or the protagonist single-handedly taking down ten enemies at once. Everything feels realistic. The sound of gunfire, grenade explosions—everything sounds incredibly natural. It’s as if a real event is unfolding on screen.
Music and background score:
If we talk about the songs, there aren’t many in the film, and those that are present don’t disrupt the flow of the story. In particular, the song “Desh Ke 120” becomes the heart of the film. The background score is excellent, effectively enhancing and conveying feelings of hope and heroism.
Editing and VFX:
Yes, the film’s editing is absolutely fantastic – if we talk about anything unnecessary, there’s nothing superfluous in it. The film is approximately two and a half hours long, but the pacing is so good that the audience won’t get bored. Are there any flaws in the film? Every film has some flaws, and 120 Brave is no exception. In some places, the story becomes a little predictable, but overall it’s very good. The villain’s character should have been shown as a bit stronger; he comes across as a little too ordinary. The film also ends a bit abruptly in the last 15 minutes. But despite this, the film will feel very exciting. If you watch the first half hour of this film, you’ll understand the whole story and you’ll definitely want to see the final moments.
To watch or not to watch?
My final verdict is that, overall, 120 Brave is a heartwarming film. You will find this film 100% authentic and powerful. It not only ignites a sense of patriotism but also gives us a chance to understand the lives of soldiers up close, showing us what their lives are truly like. We would simply say that if you love your country, you should definitely watch this film at least once.
